Reading a plan page is covered in Read plans and propose rooms and counts; this page covers what AI can build from what it read. Once AI has read at least one page of a project's plans, two new controls appear in the spec editor's chat: a Plans switch in the header, and a Draft from plans pill beside What am I missing. Neither one reads a page image again. Both work from the text AI already pulled off the sheets, plus the rooms you have confirmed.
Ground the chat in the plans
The Plans switch sits in the chat panel's header. It is off by default and remembered per project. Turn it on and the chat can answer a question like "what is in the master" from what AI read: sheet numbers, sheet titles, disciplines, printed scales, and room labels with their printed dimensions. Every answer says the value was read from the drawings, not measured, and a printed dimension is never treated as a confirmed quantity, only as what the sheet says. Turning the switch on spends a little more of the allowance on every turn after that, because the chat is now carrying the plan's context along with your question. Turn it off again once you are done asking about the drawings.
Draft from plans
The Draft from plans pill sits beside What am I missing, and like the switch, it only appears once AI has read at least one page. It opens a dialog with the ten trades as checkboxes: Electrical, Plumbing, Kitchen and bath fixtures, Cabinets and countertops, Fireplaces, Flooring, Tile, Paint, Interior doors and trim, and Exterior. The dialog also shows how many sheets AI has read and how many rooms you have confirmed, and an estimate, about 50,000 tokens for all ten trades, 5,000 per trade, against what is left of this month's allowance, so you can drop trades before you spend anything.
Draft runs one prompt per trade over the extraction text AI already read, plus the rooms you have confirmed; it never looks at a page image again. The result lands as a draft in the conversation, the same kind of draft any chat request produces: lines sorted into the standard sections, Flooring, Paint, Kitchen, Bathrooms, Lighting and Electrical, Plumbing Fixtures, Interior Doors and Trim, Exterior, and HVAC for the fireplaces. A line that a trade tied to a room you have confirmed carries a room chip, so you can see where it came from. You review the draft the same way you review any other, and nothing reaches the spec sheet until you choose Apply.
What a template line is and is not
A template line names a scope item, not a product. No manufacturer, model, or price is ever attached, and no total changes until you add one yourself in the editor. A line also carries no quantity; what it can carry is a takeoff basis, floor area, wall area, or perimeter, when the room it is linked to can supply one. The editor's takeoff disclosure computes that quantity from the confirmed room, and it stays a suggestion until you choose Set quantity from takeoff yourself; nothing sets it for you. A line links only to a room you have confirmed, on the Rooms page or by confirming a proposal. When a trade names a room the plans do not have confirmed, the name is kept in the line's notes instead, as "Room on the plan: " followed by the name, so the reference is not lost, only unlinked.
When a trade does not run
A trade can come back empty: a vendor page too busy to answer, an allowance already spent for the month, or a section with nothing on the sheets to draft from. When that happens, the trade is named in the draft's "A few things to clarify" list rather than dropped silently, and a trade the run never started, because the allowance ran out before its turn, says so too. If several trades fail together, run Draft from plans again with fewer trades checked. Each run is also capped at 200 lines, so a very large plan set may take more than one pass to cover every trade you want.

Before you draft, read the floor plans with Read this page so AI has sheet numbers, titles, and room labels to work from, and confirm the rooms you want the draft to link to, either on the Rooms page or by confirming a proposal there.
