Measuring on a plan is only half the job. This is where the numbers go: a room the spec sheet can read, a spec item whose quantity follows the plan, a summary you can review and export.
Make a room from an area
On a plan page with a confirmed scale, open the row menu of any area measurement and choose Make room. The outline becomes a sketched room on the Rooms page, in feet. Make room carries the outline only, so set the room's ceiling height on the Rooms page. From then on the room feeds every item that reads it exactly as a room you sketched by hand would. The room's row on the Rooms page carries a chip that opens the sheet it came from.
Link to room attaches a measurement to a room that already exists, without touching the room. When you move or reshape a linked area later, Update room from measurement rewrites the room's outline from the current shape.
A measurement on a page whose scale is not confirmed cannot become a room, and neither can an outline that crosses itself.
Map a group to an item
Open a group's menu in the Measurements drawer and choose Map to item. Pick the spec item that should follow the group, and optionally a library product. The item's quantity takeoff switches to the Plan takeoff group basis and reads the group's total: square feet for an area group, feet for a length group, a count for a count group.
Coverage and waste resolve in order: an override typed on the group, then the product's pack coverage and default waste, then the section preset. The computed quantity is the total divided by the coverage, plus the waste, rounded up; a count group needs no coverage. An item whose unit does not read naturally from the group's kind (an area group feeding an item measured in lf) shows a warning and still computes, because coverage converts.
The quantity itself moves only when you apply it in the spec editor, from the item's takeoff disclosure or from the takeoff summary sheet. Nothing on the plan writes a quantity.
Review and export
The Review button on the Takeoff tab opens the Takeoff Summary: every group with its total, the pages it spans, the item it feeds, the computed quantity, the current quantity and whether they differ. Switch between the whole project and one plan. A group with a measurement on a page whose scale is not confirmed reads "unscaled" instead of a number.
Export CSV downloads the summary for a spreadsheet. Across the whole project it writes one row per group, with the plan and page cells left blank; narrowed to one plan or one page it writes one row per group per page. Export marked-up PDF renders a plan's sheets with their visible measurements and notes drawn on, one landscape page per sheet; hidden layers stay out of both.
Apply quantities in the editor opens the project-wide summary sheet in the spec editor, where Apply and Apply all write the quantities through the editor's own save.
Notes on a sheet
Choose Annotate on the toolbar, or press N on a keyboard, then pick Text, Pen, Arrow or Cloud. Text asks for a line and places it where you clicked; Pen follows a drag; Arrow and Cloud stretch between two points. A long note is trimmed to fit its box on screen and wrapped onto several lines in the PDF. Notes never count toward a total and appear only on the marked-up PDF and on screen. Undo covers them like any other edit.
Products
A library product now carries a default waste percent beside its pack coverage. A group mapped to the product inherits both unless the group overrides them.
