A new project is a blank schedule. There is no default list of twelve sections to delete before the real work starts. You add the sections this job actually has.
Pick from the list, or name your own
Open the spec editor and choose Add section. The picker is the standard residential list: Site, Kitchen, Bath, Appliances, and the rest, including Insulation, Low-Voltage, Outdoor, and Specialty.
Tap a category to add it. Type a custom name when the job does not fit those labels: Primary Bath, Guest Kitchen, or whatever you would say out loud.
You can add more later. Nothing is locked in at create.
Three ways to start populated
The blank start is the default, not the only door.
A saved template is your own section and item scaffold from a previous project. Use it when you spec the same kind of house repeatedly.
AI assist takes a description like "four bedroom coastal build, two full baths, quartz kitchen" and drafts the scaffold for you. Confirming the draft creates the sections by title.
Both of those still land you in the same editor. The picker is how you extend them.
