Your plan includes one AI allowance a month, and every AI feature on your plan draws from it. There is no separate count for each one any more.
Which features that covers depends on your plan, and Settings, then AI, names the ones yours includes. Chat, smart import and care notes come with any plan that has an allowance. Photo capture and quote reading are part of the Pro workflow.
What an action is
An action is roughly one piece of AI work: one chat message, one smart import, one care note, or on Pro and above one photo capture or one quote read. Starter includes about 600 a month, Pro about 1,800, and Studio about 3,700.
Those counts say "about" because they are honest estimates rather than a fixed number of button presses. What actually gets measured is how much work the model does. A short chat message about a single fixture costs less than a long one that reads three product pages, so a month of small jobs buys you more actions than the number above, and a month of big ones buys fewer.
This is the change from how it used to work. Before, three separate counters each ticked down by one whether the job was large or small. Now the allowance tracks the real work, which means the light jobs stop costing you the same as the heavy ones.
What happens when you run out
AI pauses. Nothing else does.
Your projects, spec sheets, sections, items, exports, PDFs, client share links, change orders, selection boards, order sheets and deliveries all keep working exactly as they did. You can run your whole business. You just cannot start new AI work until the allowance resets on your billing date.
If you need more before then, open Billing to see the options available to your account. A paid-tier change is not scheduled until Billing confirms it; if the Stripe portal does not offer the tier you need, contact support.
Stretching it further
On Settings, then Usage, a bar shows the percent of this period's allowance you have used, with the token counts underneath. Settings, then AI, shows the same bar and lets you turn off parts of what the AI reads. Features you have switched off send less with every message, so the allowance goes further.
Saving products to your library does not count against the allowance. Neither does searching them, or searching this help center.
